60'sにヒットを連発した女性シンガーのサンディー・ショウは70's半ばには引退同然でしたが、スミスのモリッシーのラヴ・コールでRough Tradeからスミスをバックにした12"を出してました。その後Virginからカムバック・アルバム「Hello Angel」をリリース。流行りのダンスビートではなく、ネオアコ的な部分もあるポップス。”Cool About You”はジザメリのカヴァーです。

■Land Of Oz / Le Cirque（’67）
リオン・ラッセル作のこの曲はフランスのル・シルク(と読むの?)によるソフトサイケ。今気づいたのですがタツロー氏の”ドーナッツ・ソング”の元ネタの一つだったのですねえ。もちろんビートルズからの影響もあります。

急に脳内に流れて来たガイルズの「Monkey Island」('77)からの”You’re The Only One”。思ったほどこのアルバムヒットしなかったんでバンド名を昔のJ・ガイルズ・バンドに戻したんでしたね。ちょっと黒っぽさが後退した曲で当時の中学生でもOKでした。まろやかな感じ。

有名な"9 Feet Underground"という大作があるんでタイトル曲はかすんでしまいますが、リリカルなピアノに導かれる曇ったオルガンといいうがい声といいこの曲はとてもチャーミングです。アルバムジャケットを見ながら聞くとさらにイメージ膨らみますね(正しいプログレの聞き方かも）。ちなみにトールキンの「指輪物語」に出てくる七つ国をイメージしたジャケだそうです。

■Pink Moon / Nick Drake（’72）
繊細な音楽という印象を受けるのはニック・ドレイクの生きざまを後になって知ったからでしょうか。できるなら何の情報もなしで出会いたかった。難解とか暗いというイメージは少なくともこの曲にはありません。3枚目の「Pink Moon」のタイトル曲。結果として最後の作品になってしまいましたが、日本では長い間名のみ知られたアルバムで、00年になって(ユニバーサルの時代に）やっとCD化されました。Islandレーベルが新しい世代で盛り上がった80'sも無視されてましたので、これはうれしかった。

「Animals」を出した後フロイドのメンバーは順にソロに入りますが、ギルモアに続いてkb奏者のリック・ライトが出した「Wet Dream」は、あまりうまくないvoと耽美なメロディーが印象的でした。ゴンザレスのラリー・スティール(b)、ロビン・トロワーのレグ・イシドア(ds)、フロイドのツアーメンバーのスノウィー・ホワイト(g)らが参加しています。フロイドの事を歌ったの？と思ってしまう"Pink's Song"ではメル・コリンズがfluteで参加。

■A Song For Jenny / Humble Pie('71)
「Rock On」に入ったカントリーロック風味（BJ・コールがsteel）のナンバーではありますが、ゴスペルっぽさもあってソウルフルな味わい。”ジェニーに”捧し歌”という古式ゆかしい邦題がついてた気がします。この頃のハンブル・パイはまだアコースティックなフォーク・ロックも得意としていてそれはフランプトン効果だったわけです。
