英Polydor＝米Atcoの流れがありましたが英Bronzeはそうでもなくユーライア・ヒープはMercury、コロシアムはABC、テンペストはWB、パラディンはEpicとバラバラ。ジューシー・ルーシーはVertigo時代のファーストからAtcoでした。米南部志向とサイケがミックスされた英国産スワンプ。傑作セカンド「Lie Back And Enjoy It」も安価なAtco盤で揃えてた僕です。ポール・ウィリムス(vo)、ミッキー・ムーディー(g)が参加。”Hello LA Bye Bye Biringham”はデラニー・ブラムレットとマック・デイヴィスが書いた曲で、オリジナルは、SAHBを組むアレックス・ハーヴェイ。ボビー・ホイットロック、ブルー・チア、イヴ、ナンシー・シナトラのカヴァーもあります。

マイケル・マーフィーというと”Wildfire”の話ばかりになるのが少し不満です。他にも他人が取り上げたいい曲いっぱいあります。この”Texas Morning”は、ラスティ・ワイアやBW・スティーヴンソンもとりあげた名曲。今日はマイケル・ネスミスのファースト・ナショナル・バンドで行きましょう。この人もまた”Silver Moon”ばかり話に上がるので不満(^^) FNB最終作の「Nevada Fighter」も傑作だと思います。

■Wedensday Morning Dew / Majic Ship('69)
マジック・シップは無名の米サイケ~ハードロックでプライヴェート・プレスに近い形で69年に唯一のLPをリリースしてるのだとか。ノイジーなハードロックもあればバファロー・スプリングフィールドのカヴァーもあってフォークロック、ソフトロック的な側面もあります。この”Wednesday Morning Dew”もまたドリーミーなフォークロック。グーゼンつべで見つけた曲ですがとてもいいです。解散後メンバーはフォックスというバンドを組むらしいのですがここのdsが後にマホガニーラッシュのジム・エイヨブというのも新たな発見(^^)

ブラックモアズ・レインボウの「Rising」に入ったある曲に似た(どっちかがパクリとかそういう話ではなく)”GoodMorning Judge”は、エリック・スチュワートのvoで彼のスライドも入ったブギで、10CCらしくないイメージでした。ちょうどよくラジオでかかってた曲です。僕はリアルタイムではすでに4人組ではなくデュオでした。

Atlantic系の輸入盤LPの紙袋によく写真が載っていたクロス・カントリーはトーケンズの変名で、ジェイ・シーゲル、ミッチ・マーゴ、フィル・マーゴの3人組。当然ながらハーモニーは任せとけ！って感じで絶妙なコーラス・ワークにカントリー・ロッキンな演奏がついています。steelはエリック・ワイズバーグ。唯一のLP「Cross Country」はAtcoから。

ローウェル・ジョージがprodしたデッドの「Shakedown Street」からヤング・ラスカルズのカヴァー。はじけるような躍動感のある曲はやはりガルシアよりもボブ・ウィアですね。これは81年のRockpalast(独)でのTVライヴ。
